  7. For a fresh start to the school year, I put the hundreds of hours of blog stalking that I do each summer to good use. This usually means finding places in my classroom for all of the fun new printables, posters, centers, etc. that I get from all of the genius teachers out there :)

  14. Starting fresh, is too common for me. In 18 years of teaching I have taught 5 grade levels (PreK, K, 1, 4, 3) and have been in 10 different classrooms. I am hoping, I do not have a "fresh" start next year.

I clean out my classroom each year and get rid of things I haven't used and wipe everything down to start fresh! :)

  16. To have a fresh start each year I research and adapt new curriculum ideas and lessons to incorporate into my classroom. The students love the hands-on ideas that I receive.

    Thanks for offering this giveaway!

  17. This coming year, for a fresh start, we will begin Common Core!!! So, everything will be different in some way shape or form! Some of our content has changed in 5th grade and some hasn't (THANK GOODNESS!) Even though I talk to last years teachers about all students to have an idea about what areas students struggled in, I go into the year with no preconceived idea of what the child brings into the classroom. Usually, the students "grow up" a lot over the summer and they are different from 4th to 5th.

With Common Core, I am hoping to have more hands on, more time for grouping and more time to have some quality time w/ my students. This year's class has been difficult and hasn't allowed themselves the benefit of this due to their choices.

  18. Every summer I go to our library and check out 30-40 picture books/chapter books to read (usually 2-3 times a week). I want to get the best books to share with my students during the year.

This year I'll also be starting math notebooks and math/number talks. Truly excited about this.
    Thanks

    1. What a great idea Linbet! I read books with my personal children each summer, and kind of steal the books I read with them for my class - but I love this method of choosing books.
