One of the best things about technology is how much it allows us to work with other people around the world. In the classroom, this ability allows me to open windows and doors for my students that may never be opened otherwise. It gives my students a chance to work with students who are in a different country, a different time zone, a different continent – and for all intents and purposes, a different world! If we start teaching students now that they can work with anyone, anywhere in the world, they will grow up with a spirit of collaboration, and an understanding of working together with those of other countries and cultures. I can’t think of much better that I’d want for my students.
So, in the spirit of collaboration, Global Teacher Connect – a collaborative blog that is all about teachers around the globe coming together to collaborate – is hosting a collaborative project designed to give students a peek into schools around the world. Each school that participates with share a little information about their school. As we work together, we will be able to give our students a view of what school is like around the world.
If you want to join up with this project, you can find step by step directions, as well as this free cloze word activity form over at Global Teacher Connect. I can’t wait to give my students a sneak peek at schools around the world.
