Spin & Spell Website

It’s time for the Wednesday Website suggestion!! For two years, I was the Technology Specialist at a school in Georgia. During that time, I amassed a large collection of websites that I use with my students. If you want to search through some of them, you can check out my IKeepBookmarks site. Do your kids misspell common words?  Want a fun way for them to work on those words?  This week’s Wednesday Website Suggestion is called Spin and Spell.  It has collections of pictures in categories like: What We Wear, The Animal Kingdom and What We Eat.  When students click on the picture, the computer says the word.  Then, students get a chance to spell the words by using the spinner. 

This game is especially good for my English Language Learners who may not know some of these common words.  Also, if students really struggle with spelling, they have an opportunity to click “Show Me The Word” and get the spelling.  This is an easy, independent computer center for the beginning of the year.
