Use Morfo App to Present Persuasive Writing

One of the many apps I was introduced to at the ECIS conference was Morfo.  This app allows you to take a face – either a picture you have or one of their limited stock pictures – and make it move and talk.

You can add to your face, with hair and makeup and other alterations, or you can leave it as it is.

Then, you can record your voice, for up to 30 seconds, and your “face” will speak what you have said.  You can also change the tone of voice to high or low pitched.

Here is an example of how you can use this to work on Persuasive writing.

There are lots of other educational options for this app, such as:

- Pretending to be a historical figure or book character

- Doing a fun 30 minute summary of a topic

- Recording a poem or song that needs to be memorized

- Practicing speaking in a foreign language (or in English for our ESL learners)

- Giving an introduction to a larger presentation

Morfos can be exported as a .mp4 format, so they can then be uploaded into blog posts, glogsters, prezis, iMovies, or any number of other presentation devices.

As with many recording softwares, these types of videos are often a lot less stressful for students than standing up in the class presenting on a topic.

How could you use this app with your students?
